V-Discs 700-799 (1946-1947) During WWII the government produced and distributed 78 RPM "Victory Discs," or V-Discs, to U.S. troops all over the world. The records were to be destroyed after the war but many of them survived. :) A lot of the V-Disc material was taken from radio programs like Command Performance; you can find out more in the book V-Discs: A History and Discography by Richard Sears. The Jubilee! radio show was broadcast on the Armed Forces Radio Service (AFRS) and featured "Negro" performers. The dates on these files, show numbers, as well as some performer's names, came from the Jubilee! transcription pages by Carl Hallstrom & Bo Scherman: http://home.swipnet.se/dooji/jubilee.htm The Radio Gold Index http://www.radiogoldindex.com DB was helpful too. Any typo or error is mine. :D

Two hour radio show in tribute to John Coltrane broadcast on the anniversary of his death July 17 2012. This is not straight forward done-to-death-style anthology of his *favourite tunes* per-se â It is intended to be more a narrative documenting the influence he had on Jazz and modern musical culture as a whole. Special. Enjoy. Track listing: Dave Lee Jr: Evolution Byard Lancaster: St. John Pharaoh Sanders: Red, Black & Green Alice Coltrane: Universal Consciousness Ornette Coleman:...
